Weldon Ryan Carnival Series

Two “Posers” at the Miami Carnival in 2012, 

I sometimes paint subjects that are aware that they are being photographed. I painted quite a few subjects like this in this series. I call these “Posers”. I do sometimes enjoy my subject engaging with me. Then when I paint them this transfers to third level of engagement.  After all this is what carnival is all about, that interaction.
